The name
Tao (道), the way
Tao means way or path. The name reflects our commitment to a consistent path, followed patiently for a long time.
Principles
What we hold to
- Think in decades. We measure progress in years, not quarters, and we accept work that takes time.
- Build for generations. What we make should remain useful long after we finish making it.
- Say what is true. We publish only what we can stand behind, and we mark clearly what is still in progress.
- Keep the public record clear. We distinguish what is public from what is still in progress, and do not invent work to fill an empty page.

TaoLab.ai is a static website: no external scripts, trackers, cookies, or third-party runtime dependencies. It loads quickly, works without JavaScript, and is maintained by hand.
